"Is it not monstrous that this player here, but in a fiction, in a dream of passion, could force his soul so to his own conceit..."
Hamlet, Hamlet (Act II. Scene II.) by William Shakespeare
The auto-biographical solo performance, Renaissance of the Ring, conveys the universal struggle of being true to one's self. On a stage of philosophical speech, professional wrestling ring psychology, operatic storytelling and more, a new world is brought to life. The Renaissance of the Ring is ushered in by a character born of classic material: Johnny Star Power, a name bestowed on me by W.W.E. Hall of Fame Pro Wrestler, Johnny Rodz. This characterization of myself relies heavily on Shakespeare's Hamlet, Macbeth, the poetry of Ovid, and Greek mythology. The Ring of Fire Theatre Company's flagship production debuted in May of 2014, at the Performing Arts Center, of Purchase College. Former Dean Emeritus of the Conservatory of Theatre Arts, David Bassuk, sat down with me after a preview, to say it was the best senior production he had seen in his years at Purchase. On the closing night performance, an audience member approached me to say, that seeing the show ended an ongoing disagreement his girlfriend had with him about his passion for Pro wrestling. She later came up to me saying, that seeing the performance had saved their relationship. The response I received was overwhelming, and it opened doors to new artistic opportunities.
For Johnny Star Power & The Ring of Fire Theatre Company:
The Renaissance has only just begun...
The Ring of Fire Theatre Company's first full season is set to debut with its original flagship production, Renaissance of the Ring. Following this performance, focused on Shakespeare, Ovid and Sophocles, the season takes a turn into a deep exploration of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The original adaptation places Macbeth in a world, that creates exciting possibilities for characters and storytelling that even Shakespeare himself couldn't have imagined. The season finale is a repertory performance of Sophocles' Oedipus the King and Antigone, to close with a unique commentary that explores the relationship between ambition and vision. This innovative season brings the art of Professional Wrestling into the imagination of the world's most famous playwrights to create an entirely new theatrical experience.
The opening season is designed to showcase the true meaning of...

I am, and will always be a storyteller. Whether I'm performing in the ring or on a stage speaking the words of the world's most profound thinkers, I live to tell stories that create cathartic moments and truly affect the lives of others. As founder/artistic director of the Ring of Fire Theatre Company, it is my goal to create cathartic experiences for audiences of Theatre through the art of Professional Wrestling.
The legacy left by the ancient philosophers and the timeless playwrights, created a world that forced mankind to actively acknowledge the mysteries of life. They created a world that forced man, to dive inside himself, and seek a light that shines on the darkest questions of humanity. There are things man will never be able to truly understand, and so the beauty is not in the answers to life's mysteries, but in the questions. The question of what makes one happy and another dissatisfied? The question of what makes one successful and another a failure? The question of what defines greatness? Questions like, in Macbeth, what is more empowering to the feudal man; the belief in the power of the divine and man’s ordained purpose, or, the belief in one’s self power and the opportunity one has to achieve greatness? Questions like, in Oedipus the King, what does it mean to have sight without vision? Is ambition morally blinding? Does ambition exist internally, or is it instilled through external forces? What does it mean to be true to oneself?
The world of Professional Wrestling, and the evolution of theatre, have powerfully affected the lives of those within their respected audiences over the course of history. Over the last half a century, countless innovations have been made in the world of performance art, and it is the mission of the Ring of Fire Theatre Company, to usher in a new age of storytelling that transcends the worlds of Theatre and Professional Wrestling.
"The new age of Wrestling unity is transcending" - Matt Striker.
The world of Professional Wrestling is now in a new age of unified audiences appreciating Pro wrestling performance. Audiences are coming together to appreciate the art of creating physically dramatic stories. In harnessing the power of theatrical innovations, the voices of timeless playwrights, and the passionate physical storytelling of Professional Wrestling, the Ring of Fire Theatre Company sets forth on a journey to revolutionize the art of storytelling in the theatre forever.
